Press this week

By Roni Brunn | September 12, 2008 | News

Yay!  “One Spring Away” found its way to these great blogs this week:

Song, by Toad‘s Toadcast

What to Wear During an Orange Alert? The Watchlist – “Roni Brunn … has quite the incredible story, and a light and fun style as well.”

Drunken Werewolf – “‘One Spring Away’ sits between Alice In Wonderland and a particularly rare breed of polka-dot pixie, found in the Glastonbury region.”

popwreck(oning) – “One-woman band From is fronted by founder Roni Brunn, a cosmopolitan musician who grew up in Tel Aviv, attended high school in Beverly Hills and graduated from Harvard with a degree in economics. Prior to her musical endeavors, Brunn created a high-end line of handbags, started Math-Club (an organization that puts on recreational math events) and created websites for big names such as Ringo Starr and Justin Timberlake.

‘One Spring Away’ will be on the forthcoming album Fair Isle, which Brunn describes as ‘something like Alice (in Wonderland) finding another rabbit hole, this time to the Magical Mystery Tour.’”

Thanks, y’alls!  So happy to get the word out.

Current fav song (besides “One Spring Away”)

What do you know?  Another amazing Swedish artist.  Mitt Piano is a one girl band fronted by Alexandra Ramnewall.  You need to listen to Små, Små Steg so that everyone’s happy.

Pantone colors for spring 2009

By Roni Brunn | September 10, 2008 | News

Pantone makes guides that standardize color for a lot of products and design, from logos to fabrics to packaging.  Instead of having one person see tomato and the other tomahto, you get both looking at Pantone 180 C on their Pantone guides.

While color predictions often feel stale and pretentious when out of context, I do find Pantone to be more relevant than most.  Remember the imact that blue had in spring 2008?  And purple for this fall?   Pantone said they would.

For spring, they see optimism.  It looks like a lot of dusty colors with some cyan overlaid primaries to punch up the palette.  My take: the muted colors will go high end, while the brights will go street.  The salmon rose is so 80s to me – salmon lipstick and nail polish were considered classic.  (Funny how standards for classic change without warning).

Marc Jacobs SS09

By Roni Brunn | September 9, 2008 | News

I’m loving fashion week so far!  The clothes are very dark and directional for spring, usually a time for girly frippery.

Marc just keeps getting every season.  It’s like being the top US designer isn’t enough – he’s going for legacy now.  Plus the accessories and the mirrors on the runway make the show truly iconic.

My favs:

Nice skirt – Bryanboy, is dat chu?
