You know fall has begun – New York’s spring/summer 09 fashion week started today.

Remember the YSL fall 08 runway look?

Looked amazing on the runway – has drama but none of the pathetic drag cliché of typical exaggerated looks.

I think it looks great as a product – say, among the lipglosses you actually wear.  I’d use it to decorate my lipstick drawer, not my lips. (Yes, I have a lipstick drawer.  Dreams do come true).

But black lips are way too compelling to be cast aside with just one impractical product.  Check out this set from Lancôme:

Good, no?  Plain, glossy red lips are so trashy.  The black gives them just enough edge. If nothing else, you’ll see this image being co-opted elsewhere.

Is it better to go douche or alt?  For me, that is.

It’s hard to write about this subject without ripping off HRO, esp b/c I do think a lot about my personal brand: authenticity = luxury goods.

Every day, I find myself wondering – should I go alt on this or that while I’m mainstreaming my shoes?  Even tho I h8 hipsters/blipsters/post alts, can i rly date a douche?  Can I sort of d8 a ‘streamer?

I put some data to the test, and I still don’t kn000.

Looks like I’m more mainstreamzy than alt, but with a srsly sml margin.  Maybe it’s just that J Crew sources cashmere at Loro Piana?

From experience, I can tell you that I def fail as an alt, and douches don’t make charts like this.

Conclusion: charts don’t work.  I need a map.

There are 1,066 James Bonds but only 40 Jason Bournes.

There are 22 Bond movies including this year’s Quantum of Solace.

There are 3 Bourne movies (with 1 in the making out of 2 more books in the series).

So that means roughly 48 James Bonds per Bond movie and 13 Jason Bournes per Bourne movie.

I wonder how that plays out over time.
