Infographics Invade Food

Infographics help out articles by making dry points more salient and eliminating the need for stock photography for topics that don’t lend themselves to eye-grabbing photos.  That’s been the case for a while, but lately there’s been some sort of spike in the prevalence of infographics even when they’re not needed or that illuminating.  Maybe it’s the pervasiveness of the Adobe creative suite and millennials growing into jobs where they’re responsible for Powerpoint presentations.

A big topic in infographics is food/nutrition/the environment.  I guess everyone eats, and lots of people worry about global warming and garbage floods.  Plus we have the classic food pyramid as a bench mark.  You can find infographics on making food, consuming it, personal consumption records, contamination, obesity, and harmful ingredients.

Givenchy FW2010 Campaign

Givenchy‘s fall winter 2010 campaign evolves from the basic concepts in the spring ads: a cast of models standing in a studio, clean, easy, but perfect hair, a controlled, striking palette, dramatic but not theatrical makeup, and Mert & Marcus behind the lens.

New is the textured treatment of the logo and the casting of a transgendered person, designer Riccardo Tisci‘s longtime personal assistant/former fit model/future veterinarian Lea T.  “She’s always been very feminine: superfragile, very aristocratic,” says Tisci.

Lego Minifigures

Lego just launched its first series of Minifigures, little plastic dolls that come in similar colors to the Lego bricks.  They look like a wackier version of Playmobil.

Tom Binns – No Time Bracelet

I feel so left out.  Apparently Tom Binns has been making a series of these non-time piece watches, but it was new to me when I saw it today.  It’s in one of my favorite finishes, glossy gold, which seems appropriate for the piece.

Jaeuk Jung – Amber Chair

Introduced in the 1850s, Michael Thonet’s Chair No. 14 was the first piece of furniture to be mass produced.  It’s one of the best selling chairs ever.  It’s everywhere still.
