From makes the best surreal indie pop that comes from Beverly Hills. The band sounds like Nico + Kraftwerk on a Magical Mystery Tour, and the blog covers design, advertising, Swedish music, and post meta fun times.
Givenchy‘s been one of my favorite houses in the last few seasons. Riccardo Tisci turns out wearable, sexy clothes that are also smart and timely. He knows where we are before we get there, and he makes it look easy. The accessories, too, are out of control, and branding is subtle if it’s there at all.
Visionaire’s upcoming issue will be a tribute to Alexander McQueen and a compilation of his work. It’s also a posthumous collab between Visionaire and the designer – they were in talks to work on an issue in 2003.

Make Architects transformed a building in Fitzrovia, UK into the setting of at least half my dreams tonight. The firm added a new floor to the existing structure and extended its rear elevation to yield a total of 15 new units. Make then clad the back in brass rectangles, placed along an irregular pattern. Perforated balconies rhythmically step out of the variegated surface, playing on the off-grid geometry of this design.
The new Tree Hotel in Harads, Sweden consists of six structures made by five different architects. Super good.
Acclaimed series Mad Men returns for its fourth season this Sunday, and with it, lots of 60s clothes to covet. Banana Republic and Brooks Bros. both jumped on the opportunity last season, when they both offered capsule collections inspired by the show. I heard good things about Brooks Bros.’ Mad Men suit – the cut, the fabric, and the finish were all legit. Mad Men‘s costume designer Janie Bryant must have been hounded by clothes manufacturers/distributors for design gigs.
Mua Mua is a line of hand-knit dolls made in Bali. Its designer, Ludovica Virga, created likenesses of fashion figures like Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld, and Miuccia Prada. She scored a coup by having Lagerfeld photographed with his doll, and now the line sells at top fashion stores.
I can only wish it’ll be 20% as fruitful when my next EP has Karl Lagerfeld as its artwork.

Rodarte created T-shirts and posters for the 50th anniversary of Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless.” The Mulleavy sisters have been prolific/constructive about extending their brand beyond their avant-garde super high end collections, and their collabs included Target and Knoll, for accessible sportswear and interior fabrics, respectively.
Photographer David LaChapelle’s latest exhibit, “American Jesus,” opens today at Paul Kasmin Gallery in Chelsea/NY. It features photos with biblical themes, including a series of shots featuring LaChapelle’s friend Michael Jackson.
The Chanel couture fall 2010 collection is one of my recent favorites. It’s definitely one of the top couture shows for me of all time/forever, since couture shows tend to be too theatrical for my taste.
Rogan takes old watch parts and reassembles them into bracelets that look like vacant watches. The Timeless Watch comes in gold, black, and silver – but it looks like silver is the only finish left in stock. Rogan’s edition is far less flashy than Tom Binns‘ – it almost looks like you were robbed.
