Alexander Lobster Claw Shoe Tattoo

By Roni Brunn | June 8, 2010 | News

Stylist Jordan Reimer got a tattoo illustration of one of Alexander McQueen’s SS2010 lobster claw shoes.  It’s similar to one of the key pieces in Gaga’s Bad Romance video.

You can’t say he was hasty in getting this ink since the runway show was in October 09, and the video came out in November.  Even though pieces from this collection are already on sale racks now, you can’t say he permanently committed to a discounted piece – these shoes never even hit the stores.

Looks like he expects this shoe to remain a top fashion symbol.  Or maybe he wants to reach out only to those who won’t ever forget Spring Summer 2010.  They’d never mistake the tattoo for a stylized drawing of an amputated lobster claw.  He’s not scared of people getting distracted by the viciously fast fashion calendar.  There are like eight important fashion weeks a year – RTW, pre-collections, and couture – but that’s okay because fashion people are good with remembering history when they want to mock stuff from six-10 season ago.

I wonder if shoes are the fashion equivalent to iconic chairs, like the mini ones you can get at the MoMA store:

For tattoo purposes, the wire chair might have the advantage of being made out of metal.  The Barcelona chair has leather upholstery, which is specific for people who like having a representation of hide embedded in their skin.

I don’t really know what to say.
