Beverly Hills nastiness

By Roni Brunn | August 14, 2008 | News

Nothing against the Montage — I hear the one in Laguna is really great. But I’m really not into this Spanish colonial revivalist monstrosity that’s about to open.

Adding a few arches to a big lump and painting it sand does not turn it into an icon of golden age Hollywood.  Not that I love golden age Hollywood icons.  I’m sticking with the modern Thompson and its rooftop pool lounge. Or the Hilton and Trader Vic’s.  Or the Crescent.

In short, when I want Vegas, I’ll go to Vegas.  I don’t need it invading my hood.
