Tron x Opening Ceremony

By Roni Brunn | November 17, 2010 | News

There have been so many short fashion films lately surrounding product launches.  I don’t quite know what to make of them.  Are they supposed to be extensions of editorials?  Are they high end commercials?  Does the script/plot matter?  Am I looking for character development?  Is it inappropriate to laugh?  Should I be looking at the clothes?

Chloé Aurore x Paddington Cross Pollination

By Roni Brunn | November 15, 2010 | News

This new Aurore edition from Chloé is making me nostalgic for the mid aughts, when the Paddington reigned as the it-bag.  In recent years, it-bags have been churning in a sickeningly quick rotation.  I miss the sweet stability of the Paddington era.

Syket – “Let It Heal”

By Roni Brunn | November 12, 2010 | Music downloads, News

So into this new Syket song.  It’s 90s shoegaze from an airtight time capsule.  Syket’s from northern Sweden but could easily pass for a Manchester band.  “Let It Heal” is the first single from their new EP Fish Band which features a remix mastered by Studio‘s Dan Lissvik.

Rentaro Nishimura – Queen of Hearts Ring

By Roni Brunn | November 10, 2010 | News

I want this plastic ring kit from London designer Rentaro Nishimura.  I like making things, but I get impatient when it comes to finishing them cleanly.  So having a kit with a finite end solves the problem of loose ends, rough edges, and messy connections.  I guess I can’t take much credit for putting together a toy and wearing it as jewelry, but I’m fine with that.  The ring would be super good even if it came out of a factory pre-assembled.

Ikea vs. Stelton – 1L Thermos

By Roni Brunn | November 9, 2010 | News

The 1L vacuum thermos is a classic from Stelton.  Designed by Erik Magnussen, it stands 12″ high and is made out of ABS plastic with a glass liner.

Ikea’s Behövd thermos also stands at 12″ and similarly fills up to a liter in its glass liner.  Its shell is polypropylene, though, and it was designed by Chris Martin and Magnus Elebäck.

Tom Binns – Eko Gold Earrings

By Roni Brunn | November 8, 2010 | News

Tom Binns‘ Eko earrings are also “earrings, or “earrings.”  They hit a lot of sweet spots as they easily please fans of punctuation, surrealism, irony, and gold.

Eating in Tel Aviv

By Roni Brunn | October 27, 2010 | News

I’m in Tel Aviv this week!  It’s so fun to see all my friends here.  Been running around faster than I can write it, so I may need to sleep off this vacation when I get back.

Above is just a public beach in the center of town.  There are umbrellas, chairs, and cabanas all ready.  The water’s warm, and there are breakers to calm the waves.  The sand is combed frequently, and there are showers + foot faucets.  It’s super civilized.  I basically only go to the beach in Israel.

Lebanese designer Reem Acra just showed her bridal collection for 2010.  The presentation included head pieces made of lace that take the place of veils.  Some were shaped like animal ears and evoke looks worn by Lady Gaga.
