Korean designer Daisung Kim designed a pencil that’s plated with a thin layer of 99% pure gold.  The pencil is fully functional.

Gold hovers around its peak price these days, so there’s never been a better time to revel in luxurious pencil shavings.

The pencils are individually packaged in boxes that look like bars of gold.  Too bad I have to wait till next spring for my birthday, although perhaps that’ll give Mr. Kim enough time to create a mechanical pencil edition.  My fav – the Bic 0.7mm would look great in gold, no?
