From: the mascot

By Roni Brunn | December 2, 2008 | From, News

Should From have a mascot?  Mascots are fun, as is From.  But when you think of music + mascots, the bands that come to mind rock much harder than From ever will.

Megadeath has Vic Rattlehead, a skeletal figure posed to embody the saying “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.”  He even has his own Wikipedia page.

Death metal is branded so literally.

Motorhead’a War Pig as a tattoo on this guy:

Queens of the Stone Age are somewhat alt, and they have the cute but environmentally precarious Bulby:

I do like things that run on electricity!  And I make From’s music on computers, also electric-powered.  Bulby brings up great ideas, it’s almost like the image for ideas themselves.

But From’s not all electro and machinery.  It’s a bit warm and fuzzy, too.  Grateful Dead have a very soft edge and a group of bears:

Speaking of toys, I suppose Britney’s a bit of her own mascot.  Or was, back in 1999:

Wow, that doll is wearing thigh highs!  So mid 90s.  I do love design, though.

Dolls are great, but 12 year old girls are probably not gonna be into From.

So far, I’ve got these requirements for a From mascot:

  • Runs on electricity
  • Fuzzy
  • Not human
  • Fun
  • Design-focused

Too bad Teddy Ruxpin is already doing something else.  Put him in a Dior Homme or Thom Browne suit, and he’d be a great From mascot:
