Hans J. Wegner – Valet Chair
I’m so lazy about hanging up my clothes. My bedroom is basically a de facto hanger-free closet. I tried to motivate myself to deal with clothes by not having any chairs in the room. Right, so my bedroom is basically a de facto hanger-free closet.
This valet chair would be a better way to go. It’s a Scandinavian mid century piece – already good – that turns into a valet and even has a storage box for accessories.

Prolific Danish designer Hans J. Wegner thought of this chair as a way to maximize clothes-folding efficiency at bedtime. The resulting piece has a coat hanger back and features a seat that lifts to support more clothes and reveal a secret storage space. Disatisfied with the heavy appearance of the original design, Wegner removed one of the legs for the finished chair, out in 1953.
Karl Lagerfeld asked his parents for a valet as a precocious birthday present, you know.
