Jaeuk Jung – Amber Chair

Introduced in the 1850s, Michael Thonet’s Chair No. 14 was the first piece of furniture to be mass produced. It’s one of the best selling chairs ever. It’s everywhere still.
Designer Jaeuk Jung sealed a Chair No. 14 in an amber-like polymer as a statement on conservation and newness. It mocks and celebrates our obsession with iconic chairs, and it looks like a legit piece even without the burden of meaning. It appears that the only potential drawback might be its weight and bulk. You can’t really push it in and out of a table, but then again, who’d want to hide it like that anyway?
