Maison Martin Margiela – Candy Clutch & Wallet
Concept pieces run a risk of looking too spot on, too gimmicky, and too attention-starved. Sometimes they’re are worth that risk – when the concept is subtle enough, the functionality isn’t compromised, and the finish is well executed. So, yeah, I’m endorsing a supersized candy clutch.
I have a thing for high gloss gold finish on objects that aren’t typically gold. This bag gets a bit of sarcasm by association with the Martin Margiela label; the house has a way of rendering cuteness as edgy. It more commonly goes for edgy as edgy, and tackling cuteness with that approach definitely pays off.
