Maison Martin Margiela x Cutler & Gross Eyewear

By Roni Brunn | September 30, 2010 | News

Next month, Maison Martin Margiela launches its licensed collection with forward eyewear firm Cutler & Gross.  Photos first surfaced at Dazed a couple of days ago, and some styles are anticipated to make an appearance at the fashion presentation in Paris on October 1.  Better taking bets about that than on casting stunts or the front row roll call.

Maison Martin Margiela launched eyewear in house two years ago with its Incognito style, a uni-lens model which looks like the windshield of a helmet.  Size continues as a theme with this range.  One group in the collection is called Anatomic and consists of large wraparound shapes that appear to have been melted onto the face in order to accommodate their too-broad width:

The second group, Wrong Size, features lenses designed not to fit within the frames.

Handmade in Italy, the sunnies will debut in November at Margiela stores and select Culter & Gross sales points.  They’ll retail at about 350 to 450 euros, or $445 to $575.

Fight For Your Right cover sounds a bit influenced by “The Chase” by Giorgio Moroder, for the movie Midnight Express.
