Minimii Mid Century Modern Dollhouses

By Roni Brunn | January 14, 2010 | News

This dollhouse is a 1:12 scale reproduction of Arne Jacobsen‘s home in Charlottenlund, Denmark.  Inside are more of the architect’s work like the Egg Chair and  the Swan Chair.  All are made by Danish firm Minimii, which launched the designer dollhouse concept with Danish design licensed from Fritz Hansen and Arne Jacobsen.  More 1:16 editions of iconic pieces include lighting from Normann Copenhagen, textiles from Daisy, kids play furnitures from Bobles, and kitchen and bathrooms from Design by Us.

There’s some talk on the Minimii site about surrounding kids with good taste and designer style that match their parents’ choices.  I wouldn’t go so heavy handed with my enthusiasm for this project.  It’s cool, that’s all.  It’s what I’d want as a kid.  I was really skeptical about overly decorated design even back then, and I preferred toys that looked like cartoons.  I would have put some Sanrio stuff in there for sure.  The walls have magnets within their layers, so paintings and decorations can be easily placed and removed.

This all reminds me I was always a pain about clean design, even though I’m by no means a pedantic person in practice.  I really wanna go make some  mod mini chairs out of Fimo.

Here’s some Jacobsen furniture from Minimii:
