One – “Rainbowland”
I’ve been wanting to post my three fav new Swedish artists, but I only had two till I heard One’s “Rainbowland.” One is Carl Jirestedt, a songwriter/musician/producer from Gothenburg, Sweden. He claims his influences to be “8-bit, theme-songs and 1-hit-wonders,” and his talent for melody means the catchy songs will start the fun within seconds of hitting play. Fans of Le Sport (née Eurosport) will be very happy.
Neither purely dance nor truly indie pop, One sounds like music aimed at joy with a nod to the cynicism that breeds around it. I relate.
The single “Rainbowland” is out today (July 1) via Bonjour Recordings.
