Robyn on The Daily Show
During a segment called The Stockholm Syndrome, Wyatt Cenac visits Sweden to rescue the locals from the misery of socialism. Robyn gives him a tour of her apt:
Kidding aside, Robyn’s apartment is super nice for Stockholm. That sounds condescending, but each city has its quirks. Luxury isn’t much of a factor in Stockholm. There’s a T.G.I.Friday’s across the street from Louis Vuitton. Housing is pretty uniform, except for some small details: the floor, the fireplace, light. And location, for which I cannot vouch because I don’t stalk Robyn. (However, I did interview her in 2005 – wow, that was crazy early).
I love Sweden. But it’s nuts that the most locals keep claiming it’s not a socialist country. Yeah. The black market for apartments works like a Soviet bread line. And, yeah, there actually is a black market for apartments. The legal queue for an apartment in downtown Stockholm runs about 20 years. I wish someone rescued me from socialism when I lived in Stockholm!
