SS11 Beauty Trend: Neon Lips
The disheveled neon trend of SS11 might be much to buy into in this slow recovery. You need a refined yet undone dress or preppy piece, and it’s not that easy to fake at Zara/H&M. But the parallel beauty trend presents fewer barriers to entry. Lots of presentations featured matte neon lips, and they basically look like Nars’s semi matte lipsticks in the fuchsia Schiap (link) or orange Heat Wave (link).
It all started with the lacquered orange lips at Prada‘s SS10 show and ads:

My fav is Fendi – great fuchsia, graphic, minimal eyes, refined skin. It’s like like a defiant romantic look with some punk and athletic influences. Unfortunately, there’s not much time to try matte neon lips before before they becomes too ubiquitous or gets adopted by girly girls. I hope I can convey how sad that makes me. I need to go to Barneys right away.
