The Beatles Rock Band

By Roni Brunn | June 1, 2009 | News

Ringo, Paul, Olivia, and Yoko unveiled more details about The Beatles Rock Band game today at Microsoft’s E3 conference, and they’re exciting.

Here are 10 of the 45 songs featured in the game:

  • “Day Tripper”
  • “I Am The Walrus”
  • “Back In The USSR”
  • “Tax Man”
  • “Here Comes The Sun”
  • “Octopuses Garden”
  • “Get Back”
  • “I Feel Fine”
  • “I Saw her Standing There”
  • “I Want to Hold Your Hand”

The Xbox will offer “All You Need Is Love” as an exclusive download, and all proceeds from the song will benefit Doctors Without Borders.

The first Beatles album available as a paid download will be Abbey Road, which will be sold through the game soon after its launch.

The Beatles Rock Star marks the debut of a vocal harmony feature in a music game.  Players will be challenged to sing three-part harmonies, animated as three vocal bars on the top of the screen.  Players who are less tonally able can enjoy playing on custom-built instruments based on the ones used by The Beatles:

The audio in the game comes directly from the masters, and the graphics aim to reflect the scenes corresponding to songs’ places in The Beatles’ history.  They look too distractingly CGI to me, but I suppose dedicated Rock Band fans are used to lifeless puppetry.

Rock band will be released on 9/9/09 for XBox 360, PS3 and the Wii.  More info on the game’s site, where you can also download the trailer.
