The Beatles – “She’s a Woman”

I’m obsessed with the Beatles’ music. My songwriting is mostly influenced by Lennon – McCartney, and songwriting is what I care most about in music. I’m not a Beatles trivia bank, though. I can’t even name songs off the LPs, and I consider Magical Mystery Tour a legit album.
It’s hard to pick one Beatles period as a favorite, though that non-album is my fav for sure. Lately, I’ve been working on our dancey “Fight for Your Right” cover, so I’ve been seeking mod Beatles songs as a break from the synth party in my head. “She’s a Woman” stood out melodically. The lyrics express a typical backhanded admiration for a girl – they seem to favor complacent, second fiddle types and turn the rest into caricatures (“Norwegian Wood,” “Lovely Rita”). Good thing I generally tune lyrics out. I’m a shrew by those standards.
To be fair, women couldn’t open their own bank accounts in the 60s, so that point of view wasn’t that out of place. And they lost their moms, blah blah cliché blah blah.
