Tom Pecheux x Estée Lauder – Blue Dahlia
The first collection from Estée Lauder’s new makeup director Tom Pecheux debuted last month at Derek Lam’s FW2010 show. The first product and advertising images just came out, and the direction is definitely more edgy than recent Lauder collections in a YSL FW08 sort of way:

Or maybe it’s closer to the YSL SS09 Trésor d’Afrique eye palette?

I guess the Pure Color SS10 makes it easy for you to shop recent YSL collections. It’s convenient if you’re after some discontinued YSL colors, or perhaps you want some way to put together recent YSL seasonal shades.
The Pure Color shadows will get a packaging update, too. Gone are the older lucite compacts with the round basin for the shadow:

In their place are gold lids and rectangular shadows. Here are the new eyeshadows that stores will get in August:
Maybe the Lauder product designers thought the YSL compacts had corners that are too sharp, so they rounded them. Do these compacts cut anyone/get caught on clothes?

It’s great to see a venerable cosmetics giant take some chances, and we can all be excited for a safer way to consume YSL cosmetics.
